NBA 2K21 was released in September for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch, but its next-generation version will arrive at the launch of PS5 and Xbox Series X / S including many graphics and performance improvements, as well as new and improved game modes. The City of NBA 2K21is divided into several buildings, zones, and basketball courts. The City is then divided into four districts – North, South, East, and West – which in turn are controlled by four Affiliations: North Side Knights, South City Vipers, Beasts of the East, or Western Wildcats. This clan system returns to NBA 2K allowing players to compete for dominance of the City in periodic events where they can decide which of them is the Champion of the City. Players who belong to the winning faction will receive prizes and privileges in the game. Each faction will have its own Mayor, a player chosen by the community itself in elections that will be held every six weeks. These people will be in charge of motivating the members of their Affiliation by creating videos, playlists, and designing the courts, kits, and areas of the neighborhood with objects that will be obtained in the events of the game. These events will be managed and hosted in the new Events Center, one of the buildings that have been renovated for this exclusive mode of the new generation of consoles. The facilities of the Gatorade Gym have also been expanded and more shops and boutiques have been added from the many brands of clothing and other objects present in the game. In the new generation of consoles NBA 2K21 the City will be able to host hundreds of players at the same time, players who will also be able to express themselves, move, and interact in completely new ways. They can dribble the ball and practice dribbling in the open world, they can skateboard or by bicycle, they can even perform tricks, and they can wear new hairstyles, accessories, clothes, and even masks.
